Road construction season is finally here in Michigan. Wait? What? If we are honest, road construction seems like it happens all year round, but the cones, the orange vests, and the lane closures are always a huge part of Michigan summers. It can be so annoying to sit in our cars in a traffic jam on 496 or I-75 going up north because of road construction.
However, every time I am sitting in my nice air conditioned car I watch the workers. These men and women have a really hard job. They must know that all the drivers going by are annoyed by the delay. These are the same drivers that complain about the condition of Michigan roads. We can’t help it. It really is a no-win situation isn’t it?
Not only do road construction workers have to execute back breaking labor and deal with hot weather, but they have to worry about their safety while out on the highways as well. Sounds stressful, doesn’t it? I just want to reach out and rub their shoulders sometimes.
Do you Know and Love a Road Construction Worker?
Chances are, if you live in Michigan you know, and maybe even love, a road construction worker. I can’t think of a more prevalent job this time of year where massage therapy could really help with the physical and stressful aspects of their jobs than road workers. Here are just a few of the benefits of massage specifically for this line of work:
- Greater energy and reduce fatigue
- Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion
- Increase joint flexibility
- Reduce spasms and cramping
- Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles
- Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller
- Reduces the effects of stress and promotes relaxation
- Improves sleep
Do you know a road worker who could benefit from massage therapy?
